Turmeric Ginger Tea

A warming turmeric ginger tea brewed with fresh roots, black pepper, and lemon for a simple, nourishing drink.

Ingredients
  

  • 2 cups water
  • 2 tsp ginger grated
  • 1 tsp turmeric grated
  • 1/4 tsp black pepper
  • 1 lemon
  • Maple syrup to taste (optional)

Method
 

  1. Peel the turmeric and ginger. Use gloves if needed to prevent staining.
  2. Grate the ginger and turmeric into a plate or bowl.
  3. Add the grated ginger, turmeric, and black pepper to a pot with water.
  4. Cover and bring to a boil.
  5. Boil gently for 2 to 3 minutes.
  6. Turn off the heat and strain the tea into cups.
  7. Squeeze the lemons into the hot tea and add maple syrup to sweeten.
  8. Serve warm.

Fresh turmeric stains easily, so protect surfaces and hands.
Do not overboil; short boiling keeps the tea smooth rather than bitter.
Sweetener is optional and best added after straining.
