Quick & Effortless: Ready in minutes, these mushrooms are perfect for busy weeknights or when you need a fast, flavorful snack.
Versatile & Satisfying: Enjoy them as a side with rice, noodles, or grain bowls, or snack on them straight from the pan — they’re addictive either way.
Minimal Ingredients, Maximum Impact: Just mushrooms, simple spices, and a crunchy coating create a dish that feels indulgent without fuss or complicated prep.
Ingredient Notes
Mushrooms: Use fresh, firm mushrooms for the best texture. Button or cremini varieties work well; slice according to your preference for bite-sized crispiness.
Semolina (Sooji): Creates a light, crunchy coating that stays crisp even after frying. For a softer coating, bread crumbs are a suitable alternative.
Spices: Add subtle color, warmth, and a gentle kick, elevating the natural umami of mushrooms.

- Clean mushrooms thoroughly and cut them into your preferred size.
- Add salt, turmeric, and red chilli powder, mixing gently without marinating.
- Coat the mushrooms evenly with semolina (or bread crumbs as a substitute).
- Heat oil in a pan on medium flame.
- Place mushrooms on the pan without covering and shallow fry on both sides for 2–3 minutes.
- For extra crispiness, turn the flame high for one minute, switch it off, and flip the mushrooms once before removing.
Didn’t overcomplicate it, which I appreciated. The mushrooms turned out really good. Made these as a quick side and they disappeared fast.
